Wear-resistant ceramic pipe is a composite pipe consisting of a ceramic wear-resistant layer and a metal substrate. It is specifically designed to address material conveyance wear issues in industrial settings. Widely used in industries such as mining, chemical processing, power generation, and building materials, it is a critical component for extending equipment service life and reducing maintenance costs.


Core Structure

- Wear-Resistant Layer (Ceramic Layer): The functional core, typically made of alumina (Al₂O₃) or zirconia (ZrO₂) ceramics. Its hardness reaches HRA 85–95 (close to that of diamond) and offers 10–20 times the wear resistance of ordinary steel pipes.

- Transition Layer: A bonding, welding, or alloy interlayer that securely connects the ceramic layer to the metal substrate, preventing delamination or detachment.

- Substrate Layer (Metal Base): Provides structural support and pressure resistance. Depending on operating conditions, materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel are selected to meet varying pressure and temperature requirements.


Key Advantages

1. Superior Wear Resistance & Extended Service Life  

The ceramic layer is significantly harder than conventional pipe materials (carbon steel, wear-resistant steel, polyurethane, etc.). Under identical operating conditions, its service life is 5–20 times longer than ordinary steel pipes and 3–8 times longer than wear-resistant steel, drastically reducing replacement frequency.


2. High Temperature & Corrosion Resistance – Strong Adaptability  

- High-temperature resistance: Withstands up to 1600°C (zirconia grade), making it suitable for high-temperature material transport (e.g., boiler flue gas, metallurgical slag).  

- Corrosion resistance: The ceramic material is chemically stable and resistant to acids, alkalis, salts, organic solvents, and other corrosive media – ideal for chemical processing and hydrometallurgical applications.


3. Low Flow Resistance & High Conveying Efficiency  

The ceramic surface is smooth (roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm), reducing material conveying resistance by over 30% compared to ordinary steel pipes. This lowers energy consumption and prevents material buildup or pipe blockage.


4. Lightweight & Easy Installation and Maintenance  

The ceramic–metal composite pipe weighs only 1/2 to 2/3 of an equivalent-diameter wear-resistant steel pipe, reducing equipment load. It requires no heavy lifting equipment during installation and has lower maintenance costs.


5. High Cost-Effectiveness & Low Total Cost of Ownership  

Although the initial purchase cost is higher than ordinary steel pipes, when factoring in service life, replacement costs, and downtime losses, the total cost of ownership is only 1/3 to 1/5 that of ordinary steel pipes, offering outstanding long-term economic value.
